Battery housings for energy-storage, telecom base stations and backup-power systems protect internal components against physical impact and fire risks. The selected flame-retardant ABS directly determines battery safety and service life. Conventional ABS is highly flammable and cannot resist high-temperature hazards caused by over-charging or short-circuits.

Formulated by modification, our flame-retardant ABS balances flame safety, heat resistance, impact performance and injection-molding processability, making it the preferred material for lead-acid battery housings.

Qingdao Zhongxin Huamei’s FR-ABS for battery enclosures supports customizable UL94 flame ratings. The V-0 grade achieves self-extinguishing at a wall thickness of 1.5 mm and passes the 750 °C glow-wire test. It suppresses flame spread under abnormal high-temperature conditions and mitigates thermal-runaway risks.

General-purpose, heat-resistant and super-heat-resistant grades are available, with Vicat softening points ranging from 85 °C to 100 °C. The material resists bulging and warping under continuous charge-discharge heating cycles.

It retains the inherent rigidity and impact resistance of ABS substrates. Housings resist cracking during transportation, bumping and squeezing, and feature good electrolyte corrosion resistance for reliable sealing. Excellent melt-flow performance minimizes molding defects such as silver streaks and gas marks. Superior dimensional stability raises molding yield by around 5 %, ideal for high-volume mass production. It also meets global environmental-compliance requirements.
